The Paper Bakery has become my favourite flair shopping site, plus I got to utilize the free shipping promo twice! It was such a sweet deal 😀 check out the flairs I’ve bought. Love them so much!
I also wanted to join in the sketch challenge but was way too caught up with work last month. Decided to give sketch #2 a shot! I love that the sketches are clean and simple so it’s totally up to you so layer it up!
Here’s my take though it’s quite different from the original sketch. Instead of doily, I decided to make 3 clusters of big embellishments at the 3 corners of the photo. I also used one 4×6 photo instead of square photos.
The title of this layout is Across the Border, and it’s the first time Dennis and I crossed the causeway into Johor Bahru. Singapore is so close to Malaysia that it’s nearer for Dennis to travel to JB than to travel to my house. Haha. It was an impromptu idea to pop by City Square for some shopping and dinner.
Made a fancy border for the layout with different washi tapes and strips of scrap papers that we get at the edge of 12×12 sheets. It also brings out the idea that Singapore and Malaysia is just separated by a border (as said in the title).
We were not prepared at all! First, we did not have any Malaysian currency. Then we had difficulty boarding the bus because it was always packed and the bus doesn’t stop to pick up more passengers. We finally boarded a Causeway Link bus. When we crossed the causeway, we thought we had already arrived at JB but we had to queue again for another bus to bring us to Malaysia customs. It was a really long wait.
I’m glad we finally made it to JB just in time for dinner at about 6pm. We also explored City Square and found many other cheap and good restaurants. Definitely going back there for more food & shopping!
